My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
Hello,
This is my first post, so I apologize if this subject has been covered, or if it isn't right for this forum.
A few months back, someone I know met a woman at an online forum. The two quickly became friends, then more. They would email, IM, and eventually exchange phone numbers. They texted quite a bit, and spoke on the phone a few times. One night, she told him she had a secret that she never trusted with anyone online. She told him her job was as a writer for a popular celebrity website. The next day, she sent him the link to her profile and articles. She told him that she had never done that before, but she trusted him. And, while he enjoyed her company, he had always found some things she said suspicious. He had caught her in a few lies before, but thought nothing of it. At this point, she had told him her birthday, her real first name, and now showed him this. The profile he saw contained her maiden last name (she is divorced). He took this information, and entered it into Google. He came to discover that she is a registered sex offender in the state of Florida. It stunned him, because she seemed like such a wonderful, trusting person. She had alluded to "big things" in her past before, but he didn't pry. Her crime occured in 2010. She met someone via a popular online role playing game. At the time, she was a very important school administrator. The person she met was a 14 year old boy. He told her this several times, and she told him she was 30. She didn't seem bothered by his age, and they struck up a friendship. Friendship turned to more, and they exchanged numbers. They began an online/phone sexual relationship. One evening, she sent him a photo of herself exposed, along with a message I won't repeat here of what she wanted him to do to her. A few days later, she did something to upset the boy. He went to his guidance counselor, and informed him of the situation. About 2 months later, she was arrested on a felony charge of transmission of harmful material to a minor. She posted $10,000 for her release, was suspended from her job without pay, and the story died down days later. In 2011, she was put on 2 years of Probation Felony, which expires next February. In the last 3 months, she has posted several explicit sexual messages (including audio) of herself. Recently, she has posted photos of herself, and her nude body on this same forum. In addition to this, she has exchanged sexual messages/photos/phone conversations/etc. with several men there. She has also collected phone numbers, photos and personal information from these men. In a few cases, she has spread these photos and the information to others there. She has also made derogatory and defaming comments to, and about, a few of them in public view of other members. Now, the forum states that no minors are allowed there. However, it has been proven quite a few times that several minors have signed up and viewed the forum, since there is no age verification required.
My question is, with all of this information provided, is she violating her probation in any way? She is luring people into a false sense of security, then getting what she needs from them, and, in some cases, doing things she shouldn't be doing with it. And, some of these people have children and families, and have no idea that their privacy and well being is at risk.
Again, I apologize if this isn't appropriate for this forum. I've done lots of research, and couldn't find the answers I seek. Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.
