It may have been a valid proof of service. For example, the court may have permitted substituted service based upon their being unable to locate you.

Once you find out what happened, assuming there was an impropriety, bring an appropriate motion for relief before the court that issued the order and, based upon whatever supporting facts and law you have found, ask that it reverse its order.
