My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Illinois

Hey everyone. I came on this board looking for some advice. I got home today and walked into a room with my parents and sister with disappointed looks in their faces. A police officer has came by and presented them with a summons paper in my name. I was bummed out that they had to find out this way but at the same time kind of relived. I am being sued by a collection agency for debts from Paypal for $1080 that was charged off back in 2010( back then it was only $712). I was young and made stupid decisions , it not fixing it finally caught up to me now. My question is what are my options? I can go to court and tell them I can't pay the amount or just don't show up (saving court fees) and get a default judgement against me? The thing is I don't have a bank account or a job or anything valuable. I am 24 years old and struggling to get back to school so i can get a degree(i have school debt also). I really want to and plan on paying these guys back but at the moment I can't just afford to yet. I don't want to get my family involved in my mistakes either. What can I do now?
