My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Michigan

Hello. I had a couple of questions regarding bankruptcy. I have about $30,000 in debt from student loans that is killing me. It will take me much longer than the 7-years bankruptcy is on my credit report to pay it off. I know there are stricter laws in place regarding student loans and bankruptcy, but is it possible to do this? Also, let's say it is possible, shouldn't I apply for any and every type of credit and exhaust all of my credit lines before declaring bankruptcy? I'm assuming they probably seize your assets, like your car and things like that. Couldn't I just sell my car and other assets off before declaring and gift the cash to a relative or friend? How would they seize something that no longer exists in my name? I am recently separated and have kids that need to eat, I really need to do something here. I am a single mother raising 2 kids on her own. I have no family to turn to. I am barely getting by right now and I feel like this could be the relief that I need. Any and all input is greatly appreciated.
