    Default Annulment vs. Divorce

I live in Arizona. I have been seeing a man who is a British citizen. He was married for about a year to a woman who is now seeking an annulment. He is defending the annulment based on the fact that the marriage was valid. She is saying that he withheld a previous marriage, which he denies. Anyway, are divorce and annulment treated the same under immigration law? His immigration attorney told him to defend the annulment...wouldn't the fact that they were married such a short time be more of an issue to his staying in the country? Thank you for any insight into this.

Okay, my LEGAL advice concerning the information posted is get rid of this loser immediately.

He is fighting the annulment because he had a sham marriage. If he wins that case, then that means he is married. That means that he will have to go through a divorce. That means that there will be further opportunities for his lying ways to get out.

He married her to get a green card, a fraud marriage, if she wins the annulment then he is back to the UK for a long time, in th emeantime he is making time with you as a backup? The man is a user and a fraud. Of course his immigration attorney is going to tell him to fight it. Why would you want to be dating a married man in the first place?
