My question involves criminal law for the state of: California. 18 months ago I was caught shoplifting, was arrested, and pled guilty in court. I attended a class that removed the mistomenor from my record. Today 18 months after I pled guilty I recieved mail from a law office representing the JCpennys that requested I pay $325. I have not moved in the last 18 months changed my phone number or done anything that would restrict them from contacting me. Since I pled guilty am I responsible to pay this fee or has the statute ran up on them being able to request money from me?
