My question involves criminal records for the state of:
I am currently a Junior obtaining my Criminal Justice Degree and I am currently on the Deans list and I am becoming bilingually proficient at a major accredited college and I have wishes to become a police officer. However, I have had a tainted juvenile record and this worries me day to day on what my chances are of still becoming a Police officer. Years ago when I was roughly 16 yrs old I was arrested and charged with burglary (It was controversial, I was with a friend and it was more of a break and enter/trespass) either way Burglary is what the cops charged me with. The owner of the property did not press charges, and the charges were dropped. I went through diversion. To this day i have contacted the court systems and they have no record of me (State/County/Municipal) however when I recently contacted the Police Department I was involved with they had record of the incident. I am honest and want to disclose this when I attempt to become a cop in the future, are my chances of being a cop ruined? Should I pursue a different career? I am passionate and have no charges or criminal activity since then, and I even aspire to become an officer in the military one day. Please send feedback and help me out, thanks -Anonymous user.
