My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Missouri
My 16 y.o. step daughter, who resides in Missouri, has expressed her wishes to move in with her father and I in Texas. Over the Christmas holiday she confided to me that her mother has threatened to kick her out for various non-issues on numerous occasions. She is very unhappy with her living situation. I am unsure if there is more going on that what she is willing to tell me. She recently text me about her mom calling her an expletive. I realize we can't just move her down with us because she is unhappy. There are currently no custody or visitation orders, just child support. I would like to know 1.) Can a 16 y.o. minor make the decision on where she wants to reside? 2.) If it is truly her desire to live with us, can she move without a current custody order in place?
