My question involves child support in the State of New JErsey.

My son will be 3 in April 2012. I am legally married to his "father". Although my parents took cutody of my son in 2010 and the court ordered a paternity test which proved my husband was actually not the biological father. My husband signed the birth certificate and had been helping support my son since birth. In court the judge said he had no rights as a father any longer since the paternity test came back he was not the father, is this true? Also me and my husband are currently not together and I am now wondering if i can collect child support from him because he did sign the birth certificate and is the only father my son has ever known. I have read online that if the man signs the birth certificate and has been supporting the child, he is the legal father, is this true? Can I in fact take him to court for child support? Thanks in advance for any advice!
