My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
Hello all. I plead guilty to sexual assault when I was 17 years old. The crime happened when I was 16 against a 14 year old female. I was told at court that I would have to register for 10 years and would not be on the states offender registry. I was sentenced to the T.Y.C. (Texas youth commision) for an "undetermined" amount of time. (Thats a whole other story) I did my time and was released when I was 19 and completed 2 years of supervised release. Well, now that my 10 years is getting close, I find out that they have me registered for life time. I do not have my court papers. Is there anything I can do about this?? Also, I was also told that minors should not be on the registry so I called the Texas dps and talked to a woman that said I was sentanced as an adult even though she could see that I was released from the texas YOUTH commision. I dont have restrictions like most sex offenders have in regards to living near parks and having kids in my house. I dont live near a park or school, but my wife and 3 kids live with me. I even went through offender counseling and was released after about 6 months because I passed 2 polygraphs stating that I did not actually rape the girl and posed no threat to society. Is there anything I can do about this as well. I could deal with the lifetime registration if I can get off the website but both would be nice so I can actually get a decent job. Thanks for any and all help and insight into this.
