Theft of a Coupon

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Bellbrook, Ohio

Hello, I was recently charged with Theft {2.00 Coupon} I was at Wal-Mart shopping & took a coupon out a box of diapers {I didn't intend to buy} brought another box of diapers and a few other items spending 80$ minus the 2.00 diaper Coupon... Leaving the store I was stopped by Loss Prevention, I tried to explain that i didnt know taking a coupon was a big deal, offered to pay for the other box of diapers i took the coupon from... Wal-mart called the police anyways So Embarrassed i've never stolen a thing in my Life & wouldnt have jepopardize everything over a coupon...

Got A Court date coming up and i would really like to know what to expect or what might be my options, im so scared my job depends on it and i have a Lil girl...
