Caught Shoplifting

3 day ago I got caught in small grocery store in Michigan for shoplifting stuff less than $30.00 value. The owner saw me on cam and he came out of his office tried to hit me screeming at me to get out of the store. I took the stuff out of my pocket and threw them inside the store and left the store in a hurry. he did not take any information about me . I am not sure if he took my License plate #. How do I know if they called the police after I left the store? If they did, would the police come after me to my house to arrest me or they will send me a court date. I am very scared, sleepless, and confused. Please help. Thank you

Well if he got you on cam then you can expect that he also got your license plate too. Consult a criminal defense attorney ASAP.

Can I cantact the police department to check if there is any police report against me. Would an attoney be able to check that for me. Help please

I referred you to a criminal defense attorney for a reason, please obtain counsel ASAP.

It's impossible to know if a police report was made. The police won't tell you unless and until they contact you as part of an investigation. A lawyer can advise you as to what to say (most likely "don't talk at all, don't return calls, exercise your right to remain silent") if the police contact you or appear at your door.

I think you're reading my comment rather expansively. I am not suggesting that you shouldn't consult a lawyer, or advising you when to consult a lawyer. I concur that if you hear from the police, you should consult a lawyer.
