    Default Transfer of Probation

hi. I live in NJ, and in 2009 took a plea that resulted in 3 yrs probation. this past october (its now jan 12 2012), i was offered a job in north carolina. not being familiar with the criminal system (my first crime, so why would i be), i did not know you just cant pick up and move to another state for a job, or for any other reason. Ive quickly become familiar with the system, and learned that all xfrs go thru interstate compact, etc etc. so, LSS, here is my deal: my home state, NJ, sent in the request for me to xfr to NC as discretionary. I have been told by almost everyone involved (NJ IC, NC IC, my PO, attny, etc etc) that my xfr should be accepted. Even the interstate compact officer who handles the county in NC id be moving to, she told me directly that as long as 1. Residence and 2. Employment are verified, I will be accepted. So, ive been on pins and needles for weeks now anticipating an answer from IC on whether I can move to take this job or not. I have been told the deadline for NC to respond is 1.20.2012 (this week). Note: the job offer is an opportunity of a lifetime for me, a 2nd chance. I screwed up a few yrs ago for the 1st and only time in my life, and am taking my punishment, fullfilling my debt to society, paying for my mistake). I am unemployed now, as a result of my screw up. Lost job because of it. I am being given an opportunity to get my life back on track and move forward, which is all i want to do. Because of my background check now, i cant find work here in NJ, so its a nightmare. But since this new job is coming from a strong personal reference, he will not hold it against me. He is aware of everything, im not hiding it from him, and he is ok with that.

My question to anyone who can speak from experience, is this: Even though i am being told (as i mentioned above) my xfr will get approved AS LONG AS 1. RESIDENCE AND 2. EMPLOYMENT ARE VERIFIED, which they both will be approved (in fact, i was told residency was already approved. the officer went to the home and approved). SINCE THIS IS A DISCRETIONARY (NOT MANDATORY) REQUEST, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD CAUSE CAROLINA TO DENY ME? Again, the interstate compact officer in north carolina has told me several times that as long as those 2 items check out/verify, I will get approved. I am asking because after researching online, it seems as most DISCRETIONARY xfr requests are declined. is this true as well?

    thank you for any feedback!!!

Compacts can be denied just because they want to deny it. No guarantee but it looks pretty good for you. You have the most important components.
