Default Trying to Reduce Rent After Signing the Lease

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Minnesota
I am thinking that I am being screwed over. I signed a lease a few days ago to move in with my boyfriend. After I signed the lease I did not get a copy when I requested one. She never even got permission from all tenants to see if I could move in. She is charging all of us over $1100 for a small 2 bedroom and I didnt even know that I needed to pay rent till after I signed the lease. All I am trying to do is see if we can lower the rent a little bit for all of us. I have also told her to fix the tub that wont drain and she keeps telling me to buy bleach and pour it down the drain since we cannot use drano. Also she gave us a helpful hints sheet that says if our neighbors in the building are being to loud we cannot call the police we have to call her. If I cannot get her to lower the rent I would like to move out I have not paid her a penny yet and would like some advice before I do.

If that's what you agreed to pay, that's what you agreed to pay.

What does that mean? You thought you could move into the unit but would not owe rent until after you got around to signing and returning the lease at some later date? If so, as you now apparently know, that's not how it works.

You are free to ask your landlord to lower the rent. If you've already agreed to the rate and signed your lease, though, I expect the answer will be "no".

You cannot use drain cleaner because of what?

With the consequence of your calling the police being what? Her angrily shaking her fist at you?

If you have agreed to a rate of rent and moved in, your state enforces oral leases up to one year in duration.
Quote Quoting Minn.Stat. § 513.05. Leases; Contracts for Sale of Lands
Every contract for the leasing for a longer period than one year or for the sale of any lands, or any interest in lands, shall be void unless the contract, or some note or memorandum thereof, expressing the consideration, is in writing and subscribed by the party by whom the lease or sale is to be made, or by the party's lawful agent thereunto authorized in writing; and no such contract, when made by an agent, shall be entitled to record unless the authority of such agent be also recorded.
If you have signed the lease, then you've contractually bound yourself to the lease.

I have to agree with Knowitall here. What do you mean you didn't think you'd have to pay rent once you signed the lease? That makes no sense at all.
