    Question When Can Charges be Dropped

    My question involves criminal law for the state of: new york

    if an appearence ticket has been issued but have not went to court yet can the charges of grand larceny 4 be dropped

    sure they can. The prosecutor can drop the charges at any time before a verdict is returned. They can drop charges after the whole trial is over and the jury is deliberating. The real question is "WHY would he/she drop charges?" If the state has a case, it is the prosecutor's job to prosecute.
