My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Michigan
I am currently serving a delayed sentence (MCL 771.1) for rtf 3rd degree. I only have 1 more month of probation, and all my fines and fees are paid in full, community service is completed. I am a stay at home mom, but was hoping to return to the workforce later this year. I have been in constant anxiety since my incident, wondering if I will be 'employable' in the future because of background checks. My attorney tells me this will not show as a conviction of any sort on my record, but will show my arrest and that the charges were dismissed more than likely. Are employers not going to consider hiring me with an arrest and a 'dismissed' case, with technically no conviction? I used to work in the executive administrative field before I left my job several years ago to have my child, and would probably go back to that sort of work again, but have also been considering retail which might have more flexible hours.
Any insight would be appreciated.
