    Default Emancipation for Mental Abuse

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Pennsylvania
My friend is being Mentally Abused by her parents and it is getting the point where she is hurting herself and She needs to get out of there before she becomes suicidal.
So I either need to know the process for Emancipation or another idea to get her out of her parents house.
    Thank You.

Default Re: Emancipation for Mental Abuse

Did you read ANY of the forum sticky notes regarding emancipation?

Unless the mental abuse includes criminal acts, she's out of luck for the government to step in. All teenagers think they're being emotionally abused. Unless she is already self supporting and can prove to the court that she is able to pay market rate for rent, utilities, health insurance, AND she's making great grades on top of it, she's not a candidate for emancipation, and that's IF she happens to live in one of the FEW counties whose courts will even hear an emancipation petition (since PA doesn't have a provision for emancipation).

The minute she coped with her problems by cutting herself, she effectively ended ANY tiny chance she had for emancipation anyway. Any whisper of suicidal thoughts or tendencies gives the same outcome of denial. Those actions only serve to tell any judge that she doesn't have the necessary coping skills to even be considered.

If she is being abused, she needs to report the abuse to child protective services, a counselor at school, a police officer, her doctor, etc.
