Possible Emancipation from Unfit Parents Who Are Separated

My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Mississippi

I have a friend who is basically my brother ,who i will refer to as M, and he is in a very poor situation. His parents are divorced and living at separate locations. Both parents have been arrested (several times) for drug use and neither have a job. His mother has custody of him but doesn't want him to live with her, so he is forced to live with the father. Both M and i are wanting to know if emancipation could be a viable answer. He has a job to help pay bills. If it is possible for him to be emancipated he would be living with me. Honestly it sounds like part Emancipation part adoption.

No it is not possible for him to be emancipated under his conditions. You can read several other threads as to why. It might be possible for mom n dad to transfer custody to your parent(s) though.

Emancipation is recognition of the legal needs of an independently living minor NOT a way to escape ==parental tyranny.

If the parents will not consent to him living elsewhere, emancipation will not help him.
Emancipation is in no way adoption. It's removing the restrictions on certain legal actions, not authority to live alone (or away from the parents).

If the parents are not providing an adequate home, alternative placement (foster, etc..), not dumping the kid on his own is the answer.

If he is not capable of paying 100% of his own support, then he does not qualify for emancipation.
