Default Finding a Wallet and Not Returning It

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oregon
Ok so i was at work had yet to clock on i arrived about 40 minutes early... i found a wallet sitting on a ledge....however i did not turn it in...(morally wrong i know) i took it t the back and continued on with my day....I had money from my purse stolen so i contacted the police....i didnt drop my wallet i didnt loose it someone straight took it...so anyways the police went to my place of employment and watch the videos, all they saw was me find a wallet with the owner gone off the property and take it to the back so they come talk to me about my stolen item and when they get all said n done taking this information from me they tell me "ok now let me tell you the real reason im here" talking about the wallet i "stole" i didnt steal it i didnt reach in to this ladys bag and grab it out i found it was it wrong not to turn it is yes it was but resulting from that i got arrested and placed in jail for 2 days was released due to over crowding as well as loosing my job. now my question is Is finding a wallet and not turning it in theft 2?

If you pick up a wallet that is not yours and keep it, even if you are taking advantage of the owner's having mislaid it, you are stealing it.

If you weren't intending to steal it you would have left it alone, or would have give it back to its owner.

You found property that did not belong to you and you kept it. Yes, that was theft. Whether you reached into her purse and took it or not.

To add to Mr.KnowItAll's response....another option you had was to turn it over to your manager, or call the police to say "Hey, I found a wallet, can you send someone by to pick it up, or would you prefer I drop it off after work?".
