Hello,
I hope this hasn't been posted a million times... I looked but could not find an answer to my question.
I am here on a J1 Visa, a hotel in Minnesota and a company in Maine sponsored me for a Management Program. I have been here for a year and have six more months to go. I have become very unhappy with the hotel I work at and I would like to leave. The company in ME said they will not allow me to transfer to a different hotel- so I am pretty much stuck.
I understand that if I quit I will lose my J1 Visa the same day and would have to go back home to Germany right away.
My boyfriend is a Nigerian native who has just recently gotten his Green card so there is no way we could marry so I could stay here.
I am thinking about leaving the hotel and going to Canada for a few days before re- entering on a regular 3 months tourist visa (I am not subject to the 2 year rule)- what do you think about that? I would have three months to get myself together and to see if I can find an employer who would give me a work visa. Do you think my plan could work? Is there any other visa I could apply for? I was thinking about going to college and getting a F1 visa, but that's SO expensive! Do I have any other options?
Thank you so much for this great forum!
