My question involves a marriage in the state of: CA
Hi,
I am currently paying "temporary spousal support" which according to the agreement is "retroactive". I and my wife are negotiating permanent spousal support. I am trying to explain her that usually for short term marriages, in CA permanent spousal support is calculated half the length of the marriage and usually the duration is counted from the date of marriage to the date of legal separation. However, I am unable to find any article or documentation supporting what I am trying to explain her. Am I missing something here or can someone point me to a reliable source? Most places it just says half the length of the marriage and I am having difficulty explaining her that length of the marriage is calculated until the day we were legally separated.
Any help would be of great help.
Thanks in advance.
