I'm a 20-year-old college student and I was walking in between to house parties last night with an open beer hidden in my jacket when a police officer stopped me and asked me to show him what I was carrying. I was forthright with him and showed him the beer. He let another officer write me up and, because I was so polite and cooperative, the other officer said that he would only issue me a ticket for the open container violation instead of issuing me a ticket for the open container and being a minor in possession.
Once I show my ID in court when I go to pay the open container fine and they see that I'm underage will they be able to charge me with MIP retroactively? Would there be anything that I could do to argue against that if they did?
Thanks in advance for your help.
