My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois
I was caught shoplifting and do not want to tell my parents. This is my first offense. I am 18 years old and do not know how to pay this without getting my parents involved. What can I do?

Get a job to pay for it?
Yes I have the money but you are not allowed to pay cash. I dont have a check book. So I just wanted to know if there is anything else I can do.
Hand over your cash and buy a money order, or get a cashier's check.
How about a money order or bank check. Have you ever heard of them?
Alright thank you for your help
Go to the post office and get a cashiers check there.
You can go to the bank for a money order.
Do not go to a retail store for a money order.
If you're 18 and tend to have a few hundred dollars cash around, why not just open a bank account? Then you can order cheques, use online bill pay (which, depending on the bank, will cause the bank to write a cheque and send it to the address of the biller as a last resort if they can't find billing details, or at least that's what my bank did when I added my brokerage account as a "biller") or you can directly transfer funds; the exact options depend on the bank and at least one may well be free.
