Default Getting a commission for buying your own home

I am in process of obtaining a real estate salesperson license. I am also interested in a new developement which offers 2.5% commission fee to real estate brokers for referral of the prospective buyers. I am not planning to be employed by a broker in the near future. Would it be legal to ask for that commission for myself if I purchase a townhome from them, considering that I am not currently employed by a broker?

You can certainly ask them if they'll give you the 2.5% or a corresponding discount.
