Emancipating Yourself at 16 in New York

<-- thats me. i am very frusterated because i was told that since i want to move out at 16( i am 16), and live somewhere else, "emancipating myself" as long as i take my mom to court and prove to the judge why i should move out.. things like my mother isnt taking her depression medication anymore and hasnt told anyone because "she feels she doesnt need it", and shes definitly qualifies as an alcholic,all my friends parents see her as emotionally abusive to me, but not to my little half sister. (her dad has been my step dad since i was like 3 or 4)and hes emotionally abusive too. i could go on naming and listing things that i have to prove to the judge. but a lot of what i read is telling me that none of this will help...even if i have another stable home to go into. is this true?can someone steer me in the right direction.

Emancipation examines the question of your ability to properly support and care for yourself. If the problem is your mother's inability to care for you, consider consulting a guidance counselor at school or child protective services.

Where is your dad?

My Dad is very unreliable, and still lives with his own parents, my grandparents, hes been all over from g/f to g/f, used to live in california, but now hes back, a couple towns away from me.. he doesnt pay child support and does not have a job. (basically the definition of a deadbeat dad)
