My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: United States and Canada
Hi, I am not sure where to post my question. If I had put it in the wrong area, please forgive me. In October Michaels Arts and Crafts, Inc. store held a costume and pumpkin contest called Michaels Spooky Craft-O-ween on Facebook. I had entered in a decorative pumpkin for a chance to win People's Choice or Judges Pick in the craft pumpkin category. People's Choice winner receives a $300.00 gift basket and $25.00 gift card. The Judges pick is the grand prize and the winner receives a trip to either New York or Texas and $2,500. The winners were chosen last week. Two of the winners should have been disqualified because they used copyrights and logos. The rules clearly state they are not allowed. Also, the submission rules state an entry can not have been publicly displayed or submitted in any other contest. One of the entries were submitted last year to a news site and the other entry was a logo of a popular brand. Many people, including myself has been asking Michaels on Facebook how come the rules were broken for days. Michaels will not give anyone an explanation. They continue to ignore all of us. Instead their solution was to remove the announcement of the contest winners. A lot of people spent money to make their creations using Michaels supplies to enter this contest. I strongly believe the contest is "fixed" and Michaels wants to sweep it under the rug. Two people have already called their corporate office and they did not return their phone calls. I would be satisfied with an answer. I have saved a screen shot of the winners and rules. If you want more information, please scroll down on Michaels Facebook wall and read the complaints. Many of the comments were pushed down because its a busy page. Can someone please look into this matter. Facebook.com/michaels
