    Default Roommate Threats, Harrassment, Breaking Contract, Ect

    My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of:

    3 PEOPLE SIGNED A LEASE TOGETHER FOR AN APARTMENT. ONE OF THEM DECIDED TO MOVE OUT AND I TOOK THEIR SPOT. WHEN I MOVED IN THE LEASING OFFICE HAD ME SIGN ONTO THE ORIGINAL LEASE IN ORDER FOR THE ROOMMATE WHO MOVED OUT TO OFFICIALLY BE OFF THE LEASE. THE LEASING OFFICE SAID THEY PLANNED ON MAKING A NEW LEASE BUT SINCE THE PAPERWORK WASNT READY IT WAS OK FOR ME TO SIGN THEIR ORIGINAL LEASE, WHICH ONLY HAD ONE MONTH LEFT ON IT. IM ASSUMING AFTER THAT LEASE WAS UP WE WERE AUTOMATICALLY ON MONTH TO MONTH. IM NOT SURE THOUGH? ME AND ROOMMATES ALSO HAD A WRITTEN CONTRACT STATING THAT I NEED TO BE THERE A MINIMUM OF 6 MONTHS, DETAILS ABOUT UTILITIES AND THAT I GAVE ROOMMATE A $200 DEPOSITE THAT WILL BE RETURNED IF NO DAMAGE IS FOUND OR IF I DNT MOVE OUT EARLY.

    IN NOVEMBER I WAS GOING TO BE LATE ON RENT AND NOTIFIED LEASING OFFICE AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD UNTIL THE 14TH OF THE MONTH TO PAY OR THEY WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION AND EVICT US.

    MY ROOMMATES ARE A GIRL AND HER BOYFRIEND. WELL THE GIRL TEXTS ME FREAKING OUT SAYING THEY ARE GONNA BE EVICTED AND I TOLD HER TO CALM DOWN ILL TAKE CARE OF RENT. SHE IS SO PARANOID AND DECIDED ON NOV 8TH TO GIVE HER 30 DAYS NOTICE TO LEASING OFFICE. HER REASON BEING THAT I AM MOVING OUT AND SHE CANNOT AFFORD THE RENT ON HER OWN. I NEVER GAVE HER NOTICE THAT I WAS MOVING OUT THOUGH. SHE ALSO SAID THAT SHE IS KEEPING MY $200 DEPOSITE BC SHE NOTIFIED THE LEASING OFFICE 8 DAYS INTO THE MONTH AND WE WILL BE CHARGED $286 FOR THOSE 8 DAYS IN DECEMBER (TO TOTAL 30 DAYS). SHE SAID FOR ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE $86 SHE WILL PAY IT.

    ON NOV 13 SHE SAID SHE IS SO MAD AT ME AND STRESSED THAT SHE FEELS SHE SHOULDNT COVER THE $86 AND THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.

    ON NOV 14TH I PAID THE REST OF WHAT RENT WAS OWED. SO NO MORE EVICTION!

    ROOMATE WAS STILL PISSED OFF AND TEXT ME THAT I BETTER GIVE HER $150 (UTILITIES+PARTIAL RENT IN DEC) AND SIGN OFF THE LEASE (SUPPOSEDLY SHE AND HER BF SIGNED OFF ALREADY) IF I DIDNT GIVE HER THIS AMOUNT BY NOVEMBER 17TH SHE WILL GO TO MY PARENTS HOUSE AND MY BOYFRIENDS HOUSE AND TELL MY PARENTS, MY BF AND HIS PARENTS I NEED TO GIVE HER MONEY. THE UTILITES AND THAT PARTIAL ARENT DUE UNTIL DEC THOUGH!! NOW SHE IS TEXTING ME TELLING ME THAT IT WILL GET WORSE IF I DO NOT PAY HER THIS MONEY, THAT I SHOULDNT TEST HER, THAT SHE WILL EMBARESS ME. ALL THESE ARE CLEARLY WRITTEN AS THREATS AND TO THE POINT WHERE SHE SAYS SHE WILL GO TO MY FAMILY AND IT WILL BE REAL BAD. I ASK HER WHAT SHE MEANS BUT SHE IS JUST SAYING DONT TEST ME. SHE IS CRAZY!!! SHE TEXTS SHE WONT LEAVE ME ALONE TILL SHE GETS THE MONEY. I KEEP REPLYING TO HER SAYING I WILL DO WHAT I CAN FOR NOW BUT SHE IS BEING RIDICULOUS BC BILLS ARENT DUE YET AND I DNT HAVE THE MONEY RIGHT NOW BUT I WILL HAV IT B4 BILLS ARE DUE. ALSO I TELL HER THAT IT IS NOT ME WHO PUT 30 DAYS NOTICE SO I DESERVE MY DEPOSITE BACK. I DONT THINK I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AT ALL FOR THE PARTIAL DECEMBER RENT BC ITS HER FAULT WE R MOVING. I DONT MIND LEAVING NOV 30. CAN I DO THAT?

    AND ONLY PAY UTILITIES AND NOT THAT PARTIAL RENT IF I LEAV BY 30TH? OR SHULD I PAY HALF OF THE PARIAL?

    IM SO CONFUSED! WHAT RIGHTS DO I HAVE IF SHE SIGNED OFF LEASE BUT IM STILL ON IT?

    SHE IS CRAZY AND SAYING I HAVE SO MUCH AGAINST ME.. DO I?

    HOW WILL THIS HOLD UP IN COURT BC I KNOW IT WILL GO THERE? DO I HAVE A CHANCE?

    Please identify your state as instructed, then present that again with proper capitalization so that it's reasonable to expect others to read it. If you don't know in this day and age that posting in all-caps is obnoxious, I hardly dare ask what rock you've been living under.

    All of your will be in court against the management company for the breach of lease and any possibly late rent.

    In addition, your roommate could take you to court for any money that you owe her. What do you have in writing?
