My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: TX
I leased an apartment for 6 months. I had to vacate the apartment in 4 months due to job transfer and relocate to another state. I paid the rent for the remaining months and I cleaned the apartment before I vacated.
1. Should I expect my security deposit within 30 days in this case? It has been more than 30 days and I still haven't received the refund of security deposit yet. I spoke to the apartment manager and she said it will 60 days for them to return the money.
2. She also said she will charge me for odor elimination fee even though I didn't have pets. She said that's done for all the apartments. Is that legal?
3. If the apartment management has found a new tenant, should I get the rent money for the remaining month(s) back?
