My question involves a marriage in the state of: Illinois
I filed the petition for divorce, I had my soon to be ex-husband served, and its now 34 days since he got the papers. The court house told me I now need to file a motion. They gave me a blank motion form and notice of motion. They told me to put on the motion my reason for seeing the judge. I am kind of confused. I thought my petition was the form that told the judge what I wanted. Can someone explain why I need to do this? Am I supposed to write out what I want again (the same stuff that was in the petition)? Or is it just "I want a divorce so I need a court date" type of form?
