Can an 18-Year-Old Student Emancipate

My question involves juvenile law in the State of Illinois.

Dear reader,

I am 18 years old and I'm a high school senior. I don't have a job but I've had two jobs before and usually get hired. I live with my mom but she is very controlling and Id rather not get into details. I would like to be emancipated so I can prepare for my future next year. I plan on graduating with a 2.9 GPA if that matters. Can I be emancipated? If not what should I do to be able to emancipate myself ASAP?

Not sure what you are looking for. At 18 you can walk out the door and never look back if that is what you desire. If this is merely for the purposes of FAFSA, not a chance of being financially emancipated.

Yep, you are already emancipated and past the age of compulsory school attendance. (755 ILCS 5/11-1 and Illinois Compiled Statutes 105 ILCS 5 School Code. Section 26-1)
