How to Go About Emancipation in Alabama

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Alabama.

I'm a 17 yr old girl in Alabama, and i need to get out of my house. My dad is abusive.... he hits me, and drags me around by my hair, and tells me how he'd rather i just left and didn't come back. but i know that my mother would drag me back kicking and screaming. I don't want to run away and get stuck in the juvenile home, but i need to get out. I think that emancipation would be the best way to go about it. However, i don't know what i need to do to get emancipated. I'm not sure who to talk to, and where to get the proper forms. Please help me. I'll do anything i need to get out. I already have a job. and me and a friend have an apartment lined up already.

You will not qualify for emancipation. Please read other threads here, particularly the "sticky" threads.

If you're being abused, contact the police and/or CPS each and every single time your father assaults you.

Well, the first thing you need to do is turn 18. Alabama will not emancipate a 17 year old under any circumstances. And do not bother with the but-what-ifs, because the answer to each and every one of them is no, they will not make exceptions for that.

Call CPS if you are being abused. No one deserves to be treated like that, but emancipation is not going to be the answer.
