Machete Possession

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

so i was wondering about the legality of carrying and using a machete in the state of texas. I have always used and carried a machete in my car without regard to legalility.one day my parents looked in my car and saw it, they warned me that my older brother had been arrested for carrying machete during a hunting trip. my purpose is to use it as a tool in a landscaping project. should i be worried? how can i go about this?

The safest way to carry it and not have it be considered a weapon, is to keep it in your trunk.

Texas dangerous weapons are defined and restricted in chapter 46 of the penal code. Knives longer than 5 1/2 inches qualify. A strict definition of dangerous knife appears to include machete.

You're not allowed to carry dangerous knives on or about your person. This includes in the passenger compartment of your vehicle.
