    Default Uncontrollable 17-Year-Old

I cannot seem to figure out how to start a new thread so. My question if anyone can help is we have an uncontrollable 17yr about to drop out, she is a threat to my wife and other children we have tried everything that the state and otherwise has asked. put our selves in debt doing so and we live in IL. can we emansipate her since she is a drop out?

Laws vary by state. Check with community mental health (or whatever it's called in your state) for your county and see if they have any resources that might help.

You cannot emancipate her, no. Emancipation, on the rare occasions it is granted, is NEVER granted because a teen is uncontrollable.

I'm not saying there are no possible solutions but emancipation will not be one of them.

    What county are you in?

How long until she turns 18?

Is she receiving mental health services?
