My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Florida
I have a rental that I am planning to short sell. My attorney (licensed foreclosure attorney, CPA and IRS attorney) advised me to find a renter (month-to-month most likely) and rent the place but still not pay my mortgage. This is to recoup my many losses. My friend, a realtor, says this is definitely illegal, yet she is not an attorney so I don't really trust her. Is there a real estate attorney out there who can answer definitively if this is illegal or not?
