I Am Being Charged with Domestic Violence. How Can I Beat It

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington. My my son in law hit my daughter. I show up at their home. I block his car with my car so he won't leave. I approach him and tell him to get out of his car. When he does I push him 3 times and he punches me. We start to fight. My wife shows up and separates us and my son comes running and tackles my son in law because he thought his mom was going to get hit. They are on the ground and my sil will not release my son. I'm trying to separate them but he won't release him so I kick himand he let's go of him. My son and I start to walk away when my sil runs up on me and punches me in the face. My son then starts to wrestle with him and tells him to stop because the cops are coming. I try to separate them again but my sil won't stop. At this time my sil father comes out and my sil runs up on me again and punches me in the face. Cops show up take our statements and my son and I get arrested. Nothing happens to my sil. Even with him hitting my daughter. My sil was drunk and he already has 3 domestic violence infractions on his record and a felony. What can I do?

Get a good lawyer and work out a plea bargain?

Seriously, you don't have any legal right to park somebody in and start a fist fight, even if that person has previously hit your daughter. Somebody else, it would seem, had the good sense to call 911. That would have been the way to go.

For what it is worth, if you had shown up at my house, blocked my driveway and then started trying to physically attack me, you would have been looking down the barrel of a very powerful handgun until the police showed up.

What the hell were you and your son thinking? This isn't the old west.....
