Default Emancipation of Minors in Minnesota

My question involves the question of emancipation in the state of: Minnesota

I'm 16 years old, and I know this may go against the possibility, but my dad and stepmom have stressed me to the point of depression. Yes, I have been cutting, I have talked to a school counseor, but so far, no luck.

I was also wondering if there is a way to become emancipated without the need of parental consent. I would really appreciate an answer that I am looking for. Thank you.

I'll be happy to give you an answer, but it won't be the one you are looking for. First, the state of Minnesota has no statute providing for a minor to be emancipated. Second, because there is no such statute, the ONLY way for a minor to be emancipated in MN would be WITH parental consent or through lawful marriage, for which you would also need parental consent. Third, even if there were a way for you to be emancipated, the fact that you have been cutting yourself means you would AUTOMATICALLY be denied. NO state will emancipate a minor with mental or emotional health issues that severe. EVER.

    What is causing the stress?

Just the fact that I'm yelled at for either something I did not do or just because my dad and step-mom are angry and decide to yell at me saying things that they know are hurtful to me. And I know I would be denied, even if the cuts are old, I was just trying to get that clear in my mind. And the fact that I was that stressed and was even contemplating suicide, I knew I would also be denied. I haven't had most of these thoughts or done any of these actions for a while, but I'm sure that wouldn't matter. Would it be possible to live with a close friend or a relative?

Thank you for the answer, even if it was a little disappointing. I appreciate the feedback and the reply

At the age of 16, you can go live with a friend or relative if and only if your parents give you permission.

Then I'm stuck until I turn 18, since my parents would never let me do that...

That is unfortunately true. There is no state where the age of majority is lower than 18; therefore there is no state where the parents cannot prohibit their child under the age of 18 from leaving, or alternately force the return of the child under the age of 18 who leaves anyway.
