My husband agreed to pay his ex $6500 in spousal support 24 months from the dissolution agreement. That time as up on July 9th. He found that she did not pay 2500 in taxes to the state. He sent a letter to her stating that he would pay the 2500 and deduct half of that from the 6500 owed to her. Or they could work out some other arrangement, just to let him know. She did not reply & Sunday he was served with contempt of court charges. He wanted to work it out amicably, but now she's taken it to another level. What should he do? If he pays the 6500 will he still have to go to court? How will he ever collect half of the taxes, or can he? Also, he had lost his job in between the filing of the paperwork & the court date (for the original case). Oh and we live in OHIO, court in Ohio.
