    Default Being sued for an old debt

    i have a summons from court saying that im being sued.i live in nj.can they garnish my wages, and take my property.i owe 4628.27, if call collectors, how much of what i owe do you think i can talk them down to.

    New Jersey permits wage garnishment, and it is conceivable that they would try to execute against your personal property.

    You're being sued, so you may find that the law firm representing your creditor doesn't have much interest in negotiating down the amount you owe. Call, make an offer, and see what happens.
