My question involves business law in the state of: CALIFORNIA

I need help please! : I had a month to month lease, but with the economy being so incredibly hard in the past year to now, I could not pay the whole amount of my lease. The landlord agreed in me paying as much as I could, I was able to pay every month 75% of the monthly lease. Last month I was completely broke and they gave me a 3 day notice, but did not know till they sent me an email on the second day of the 3 day notice. We were able to take out every belonging. Now, they are asking me to pay the balance of what I could not pay through the whole year, which is a very large sum, or they will sue me. -my business was incorporated but the corporation expired many years ago, as I coud not continue with the corporation status. I do not know what to do? I need advice please?
