But the markers she was accused of stealing, didn't even worth more than $5, even though they were out of packet, but still $300 for $5??? It's really unfair, she is paying for something she didn't even do, in fact she is paying for other people stealing the stuff form wal mart.

That's the way it works. Where would the disincentive be if all a person paid was the cost of the item itself?

Now, she can always refuse to pay and hope that the matter is not sent to small claims court or to collections. Or that they do not report the theft to the police. Her choice.
