Unhappy Old medical debts in Illinois

I have recently been contacted by a collection agency regarding some medical debt for medical services I received over 4 years ago. It turns out that the health insurance I had at the time refused to pay these bills which totaled about $5000. This has been a total shock, since I had never heard a thing about this debt until yesterday. What is the statute of limitations for medical debt in Illinois? If I can hold these guys off for a while will the debt expire?

Illinois has a long statute of limitations for debts based on written contracts, ten years. And for an oral contract, five years.
