Default MIP, Destruction of Evidence and Littering

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

On the night to saturday I got caught by the cops. And the story is like this:
I was at this party at Del Playa, Goleta, and i was stupid enough to hold a beer can in my hand..So I got approached by 2 cops, but I didn't notice them until they were like 6 feets from me. So I got really suprised and therefore I threw my beer can in to the ocean. And now I'm being charged for MIP, destroying of evidence and littering in to ocean/shore...

I live in IV, Goleta, Santa barbara btw. I am 20 years old and i come from Sweden.

Anyone know what will happen now?
    What charges may i face?
    What fine may i get?
Any chance that the prosecutor or the judge will drop the "Destroying of evidence"? .
How much does a local defender cost?
Does it matter then I'm here on loans and therefore have no money? ( Sweden lend me money for my education) The amount is very limited thought. And I already now will be short for like 1k dollar per semester. ( That remains to be solved btw)
    Answers would be very appreciated.

    /Alex

You are in California. Throwing trash into the ocean is almost a capital offense.

However, if you tell us the statutes you were charged with, we can try to help.
