    Default Rent Checks Not Deposited

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Massachusetts

Is there any law that says personal checks expire after a certain amount of time? I have several thousand dollars of rent just sitting on outstanding checks that my landlord hasn't cashed in almost a year. I'm sick of keeping a balance in my account, waiting for him to deposit them, and now I want to close the account.

Is there anything I can do (because asking a million times, which I've already done).

Default Re: Rent Checks Not Deposited

Checks that are more than 6 months old are considered "stale". Though, truthfully, this only means that if you haven't placed a stop order on the checks, it's up to the bank to decide whether or not to honor them.
