    Default Asked for ADA Accommodations, Got Put on Paid Administrative Leave

    My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California.

    I have been diagnosed with schizophrena for about 15 years now, have had no problem maintaing high-functioning and productive activities.

    Lately however, I have been feeling off and not as productive. I made a request for ADA accommodation and then next thing I know I am on leave. Paid leave.

    It could because of this one thing I did but to be so close to my request for ADA accommodation it seems suspicious.

    Is it discrimination?

    We would have no way of knowing.

    Should we infer that this is a disciplinary leave?

    What kind of accomodation did you ask for?

    The leave is "investigatory leave".

    I was preparing to supply my job with possible accommodations when I got put on the leave, so I haven't submitted anything other than my official request for ADA
    accommodations.

    It should be noted this is a union position with a county in California. Of course, the union cannot help until discipline is given.

    It's very stressful being in a holding pattern. Better that then fired I guess.

    Your employer is investigating what? Whether you violated job rules that, if violated, will trigger disciplinary action?
