My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: FL
I'm trying to protect my student loans, grants, and small income from a judgment, garnishment, lien---this is 21K in my checking account.
I have a six figure student loan debt, and around 30 grand in CC debt.
A credit card company is suing me for just over 5000 dollars. They recently served a summons on me. One lawyer told me to stall them and ask for an extension from the judge while I seek legal counsel.
Another lawyer told me to try to negotiate something with the plaintiff.
Yet another lawyer wanted to represent me for free (in state and federal level, no mention of county civil) so he could sue them on possible FDCPA violations.
I'm trying to buy an old house or possibly relocate with these funds. Would this homestead give me some protection?
Anyway I need my funds to relocate, for rent and living expenses.
Should I retain a lawyer to fight it, or go pro se with an answer?
