My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oregon.
I am a matrix case (a month ago I didn't know what that meant, now I do). in 1992 I got out of prison and never reported / absconded. I made it 19 years before getting "caught" (I evidently did not completely stop at a stop sign).
I am currently finishing my 30 day "sanction" after which I will be on parole. I have lived close to twenty years with no legal issues. Since absconding I have completely turned my life around. I am now married, have raised two wonderful children, and have been employed with the same employer for the entire 19 years.
I want to work with my parole officer to get off parole as quickly as possible. Unfortunately I am hearing that I may not be able to get off parole now until my sentence is up. Because I absconded, my end date is now 1/22/2019.
When I originally got out, I had 36 months of parole after which IO believe I could have been discharged. Now it seems though that this has changed and I will instead be forced to be on parole the entire length of my sentence (10 years). I wanted to petition the parole board to be discharged but am hearing that measure 10 "Prohibits discharge from parole before the sentence expiration date".
Is this true? Is there no way I can now get off parole early?
any help would be appreciated. It feels like I am the only person still on parole in Oregon, and details / answers are very hard to find.
