Recently I have decided to relocate to another state to find work and be near my family. I just found out that my boyfriend of 3 years can not go with me. His family has been here for approximately 10 years. They did enter the country legally however, their visa's expired about 5 years ago. They want to start the process of becoming a citizen but are very fearful about being deported. They all have full time jobs but specifically my boyfriend, he has been at the same job for over half of his stay here. They are all of good moral standings, could pass the test, speak English, and have been in no trouble of any kind. I have a general idea of the process (from reading articles online) however, we also hear the horror stories of others being denied and sent home. He is from Mexico. What is the probability of the process being started and them being denied? We have made it very clear to each other that we eventually want to get married. We do not want to do it until he can get his situation settled so that I KNOW that we are not getting married just for his citizenship. How long do you think this situation would take going through the process? I am just confused. Is there anything he can do that will allow him to follow me to the other state and obtain a job while continuing to obtain citizenship? Thanks for all the help.
