My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Wisconsin
What is the likelihood that a support order will be successful internationally? I am currently living in WI with my newborn son and just had to sign papers for the child support agency to go after my fiance to collect child support. This is only going to be a temporary circumstance until I join him overseas, but it would be exceedingly helpful, especially to cover the cost of childcare as I work full time and attend college full time. My fiance is a citizen and resident of France, but also has dual citizenship with the UK as well. I know that WI has reciprocity with France and that the Hague Convention was supposedly modified in 2007 to make it easier for American custodial parents to collect child support from the international non-custodial parent. Realistically, though, do I stand any chance of getting any sort of support from him?
Thank you in advance for your help.
