Have an appointment with a social security lawyer on Monday and was just curious to see if any attorneys or people who have successfully went through the claims process thought this could still turn out good for me or if I am just wasting my time. I applied for SSI benefits in March of this year and had been going through the process and even had the senator from the state involved in the issue. Months dragged on without any response, then I was told after going for their consultative exam that they needed to wait for previous records from 2006 and another eye care professional which the case worker had not requested prior to their consultative exam. Two days after this I get a call from the local social security office stating that they were authorized to pay me temp benefits for six month until the decision was made on my case, this was on the 26th. I received a letter from the senators office where they reached out to their contact at DDS and learned that the case was just turned over to a medical examiner on the 27th for review. I took all the information to my case worker at the local social security office she claimed she needed to get the benefits processed on the 28th and tried three days to reach her and verify she had received all the correct paperwork and I didnt leave anything out. On 08/01 the agent at the local social security office after I asked was the case worker even there went to check and was gone for 5-10 minutes and came back stating she had talked to my case worker who informed her she had updated all the information and I would be receiving the July and August payment within 7-10 business days. Then I called back on 08/02 to find out what the amount of the payment would be because the case worker at Social security did not inform me of this and I was informed at that time, keep in mind the very next day, that I would not be getting anything because the claim was denied on the 29th. Does anyone think when I appeal I will have a chance of getting approved because they originally were going to give me temp payments then two days later they made a decision on my case. Just two days after the case was turned over to an examiner which is mentioned in the letter from the states senators office. The denial letter states that even though my conditions may prevent me from doing my current or past jobs, they still claim on basis of my education, and age that I could still work a significantly large number of other jobs in the national economy and that is why the claim is denied.
