Default Medical Bill Put in Bio-Father's Name Without Permission

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Oregon
My husband is "only" required to provide medical insurance and pay $700/mo child support. He always has and is not behind in support. The mother put a medical bill in his name without asking or telling him. He never knew about this bill until applying for credit. He never received a bill nor a collection call. We disputed this with Equifax and they say the creditor has reported correctly. How can a medical bill be put in someone else's name without their signature?

His Daughter's mother took her to the doctor and put his name but her address and phone number, so he never got a bill and didn't know it went to collections until he applied for credit. He is only responsible for child support (he's current) and to provide health insurance (he does). He did not sign anything saying he was responsible for this bill nore is it court ordered that he pay extra expenses. Thnx for your help.

Submit the bill to dads medical insurance company for payment, that should take care of it. If the insurance company denies the payment, the father has to foot the bill as he is required by the court to supply health insurance for the child.

Normally, uninsured medical expenses are addressed separately from the question of who must carry insurance. It does not automatically follow that the parent who is obligated to provide insurance is also required to pay all copays, coinsurance, and for all uninsured care as opposed to having those costs divided between the parents.

Exactly, the bio-Dad is required to provide health insurance, he should NOT have to pay for bills she doesn't feel like paying. Apparently, the mother thinks child "support" is for her car payment, cell phone, and small dogs. Now she has allowed her daughter's boyfriend sleepovers and her daughter gets to carry on the family tradition of getting child support for becoming a mother herself at 15.

Boys, boys, boys, let this be a lesson to you. Protect yourself from having to pay child support. Do the math.... $500-700+/mo for 18-21 yrs = $108,000 - $176,400+ paid to a mother that will ultimately turn the child against you and you may never get to know.
